Dr. Christelle Scharff is an esteemed Professor of Computer Science, Associate Dean, and Co-director of the AI Lab at the Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems at Pace University. With a Ph.D. in Symbolic Artificial Intelligence from INRIA (the French National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology), Dr. Scharff has established herself as a leading researcher in the fields of global software engineering, mobile technology for social change, and machine learning. Her work has been published in over 30 papers, making significant contributions to these areas of study. Throughout her career, she has secured grants from prominent organizations such as the NSF, IBM, Microsoft, VentureWell, and Google, further solidifying her role as a key innovator in the technology space. In addition to her research achievements, Dr. Scharff is a dedicated educator with a passion for teaching the next generation of computer science leaders. She has taught a wide range of courses, including software engineering, quality assurance, artificial intelligence, mobile application development, and databases. Her commitment to global education has led her to teach and collaborate in various countries, including France, Senegal, Benin, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Her impact as an educator was also recognized when she became a US Fulbright Scholar in Senegal for two terms, from 2012-2013 and 2019-2020, where she focused on furthering academic exchanges and research initiatives. As Associate Dean, Dr. Scharff plays a pivotal role in overseeing initiatives related to interdisciplinarity, internationalization, innovation, and entrepreneurship within the Seidenberg School. Her leadership extends beyond the classroom as she drives forward-thinking projects that foster collaboration and global partnerships, ensuring that Pace University continues to be at the forefront of technological advancement and education.
