Dr. S. Madhankumar is a distinguished Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at Sri Ramachandra Dental College and Hospital, part of the Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (Deemed to be University). With a robust academic background, he earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Rajah Muthiah Dental College and Hospital, Annamalai University, in 2004, followed by a Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) in Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge from Sri Balaji Dental College and Hospital, Bharath University, in 2007. He furthered his education with an MSc in Gerontology from the University of Southampton, UK, in 2014, and has obtained prestigious fellowships including FDS RCS from the Royal College of Surgeons (England, UK) in 2019, MFDS RCSED from the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh, UK) in 2019, and FDS RCPS from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow, UK) in 2020. With over 17 years and 6 months of teaching experience at Sri Ramachandra Dental College and Hospital, Dr. Madhankumar has made significant contributions to the field of Prosthodontics. He has authored 39 scientific articles and three books, including “Evolution of Metals/Alloys Used in Prosthodontics: Prosthodontic Alloys” and “Retention in Maxillo-Facial Prosthodontics: Methods of Retention.” His work in pre-clinical prosthodontics is also highlighted in the collaborative book “Colour Atlas for Pre-Clinical Prosthodontics.” Dr. Madhankumar’s excellence in dental education has been recognized internationally. He was awarded the Best Dental Educator Award at the World Dental and Oral Health Congress Conference in London in 2017. He also received the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship to pursue his MSc in Gerontology from the University of Southampton in 2013-2014. In addition to his academic achievements, Dr. Madhankumar has actively contributed to dental innovation with two patents filed: a Surgical Scalpel Handle and a Dental Implant Box. He has also led three funded research projects, including studies on age-related changes in the oral mucosa of the geriatric population and the effects of denture cleansers on acrylic resin teeth. Dr. Madhankumar serves on the reviewer panel for several reputable journals, including the Journal of Indian Prosthodontic Society, the Journal of the International Society of Preventive and Community Dentistry, the Indian Journal of Dental Research, and Cureus. His extensive experience and dedication to advancing dental education and research make him a highly respected figure in the field of Prosthodontics.
