Dr. Tran is a distinguished researcher currently based at the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Malta, Malta. His extensive academic career includes serving as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Seoul National University (SNU) in Seoul, South Korea, from October 2022 to October 2023. In addition to his role in Malta, Dr. Tran is an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) at the Department of Marine Engineering at Vietnam Maritime University in Haiphong City, Vietnam. His international expertise is further demonstrated by his honorary positions as a Professor at the School of Computing Science and Engineering, Galgotias University, India, and an Adjunct Professor at the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Lovely Professional University (LPU), India. Dr. Tran’s academic journey began with a Bachelor of Engineering and a Master of Science degree, both earned from Vietnam Maritime University in 2011 and 2014, respectively. He furthered his studies by obtaining a Ph.D. from Wuhan University of Technology in Wuhan, China, in 2018. His doctoral research was supported by the prestigious Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC), which provided full funding for his Ph.D. program. Dr. Tran’s commitment to research and excellence in his field is evident from his active involvement in several reputable journals. He serves as an Editor or Guest Editor for renowned SCI/SCIE-indexed journals, including Environment, Development and Sustainability, IET Intelligent Transport Systems, and International Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to research, Dr. Tran was awarded the NEPTUNE Prize by Vietnam Maritime University in 2019. This accolade highlighted his exceptional research achievements and impact in his field. Additionally, in 2022, he was nominated for the prestigious Ta Quang Buu Prize by the National Foundation for Science & Technology Development (NAFOSTED) as one of the five outstanding scientists in Vietnam. His dedication to advancing knowledge and innovation is further supported by his selection for the full scholarship for the Postdoctoral Fellowship Program of the National Research Foundation (NRF) for Foreign Researchers by the Government of South Korea. Dr. Tran’s career exemplifies a blend of rigorous research, international collaboration, and academic leadership. His roles across various prestigious institutions and his contributions to multiple high-impact journals underscore his commitment to advancing his field. His achievements, recognized through numerous awards and fellowships, reflect his significant impact and continued influence in the realms of electrical engineering and marine engineering.
